Acoustic solution
The brief
As part of a refurbishment project at the University of East London, Bloc Interiors enlisted Acoustics by Design to address the challenges posed by spirited conversation, combined with the clatter of cutlery and crockery, in the busy student cafe.
The complexity of the task was exacerbated by the presence of two distinct ceiling heights: an open ceiling in the larger area and a lower plasterboard ceiling in the smaller section.

The solution
Taking all these factors into account, we opted to use 12mm PET (polyethylene terephthalate) to create visually appealing intricate hexagonal shapes, designed to optimise sound absorption within the given site dimensions.
